What's happening to the student roll at Matamata Christian School?

Over the past several years Matamata Christian School has been blessed with a strong roll growth taking student enrolment inquiries over the present roll cap of 120, and the demand continues to grow. The Proprietor Board is the board of Peria Christian Education Inc, the owners of the school property, and with the encouragement of the Ministry of Education, applied to increase the roll cap to 180 students and increase the teaching year level from year 8 to year 10. This application has been approved and will apply incrementally over 2026 and 2027.

Catering for this growth requires increasing spaces such as classrooms, resource areas, library areas, a hall / multi-purpose area, administration etc. The Proprietor Board has been planning for these requirements for almost 2 years now and the first stage is about to happen with the first set of 2 classrooms coming onsite any day.

The  project is spread over four years starting 2025. The Proprietor Board has been able to partially fund the first stages from reserves and some borrowing, and will need to depend on fundraising to complete the project. Planning and estimated funding requirements can be viewed below.

Donations will be gratefully received. For transparency and management purposes, donors are asked to make donations through the Kid on the Rock Foundation into Kiwi bank account number 38-9022-0105816-00.
